Book: High Fidelity

I read this book after seeing the movie based on it. I loved the movie, but I wish I had read the book first. When I read a book after seeing it portrayed on screen, the characters’ voices in my head all sound like the voices of the corresponding actors. That isn’t always a problem, but in this case the book was written by a British author and the movie was made in the U.S. Hearing the word “snog” spoken by John Cusack in an American accent is rather disconcerting.

The book is great, with biting analyses of love and relationships and a dead-on portrayal of the Die-Hard Pop Music Enthusiast sub-culture.
